Monday Randomness: Christmas Presents, Naps, and an Apple Caravan

Try not to be overly jealous of our weekend.

It involved grocery shopping, presents, pictures, a cold, lots of naps, and lots of driving.

Friday morning I made the authoritative decision to give books and pjs for Christmas this year.

Merry Christmas.

Considering the amount of people that we need to buy for it just seems like the easiest thing to do.

Do you ever give themed gifts for Christmas?

Then Friday evening after an extensive grocery store run (that included coupons, shoot me now) I made the sausauge and cheese scones/biscuits for breakfast on Saturday.

If you have not tried this recipe you MUST.

You will die of breakfast goodness.

Then Saturday, my husband was feeling bad so we literally did nothing all day.

I told you not to be jealous of our exciting weekend.

Sunday morning, we got up at the crack of !dawn!, and got some professional pictures taken with the kids.

Thankfully I remembered to iron all their clothes on Saturday night.

Getting your husband and stepsons out of bed before 7 am on a Sunday is not for the faint of heart.

But they were good troopers and even smiled pretty for the camera.

Then after the pictures we drove the 30 minutes home, changed clothes, laid on the sofa for a while nursing our tired brains back to functioning mode,

And then we drove the 45 minutes to my parents house where we caravaned 45 min up to Hendersonville, NC to get apples, slushies, doughnuts and all other apple  paraphernalia with all my siblings, plus girlfriends, plus a couple extras. It’s like 20 people or something. And then we drove the 1 hr and 15 minutes home.

This apple picking is a yearly tradition that my family has done since I was very small, we used to go to Georgia but now to just go to NC.

But the funny thing is we never actually pick apples. We just go buy them and then eat a ton of Bojangles fried chicken and then we come home :)

The Domestic Lady apple picking

It’s fun comparing pictures over the years from all our trips. In 2009, I was much thinner and more single.

Anyways, we picked up a pumpkin, and some apples of course.

We had a great time and thankfully we didn’t freeze this year.

And then we came home, took another nap and had some coconut chicken soup for dinner.

The end.
