10 amazing night out places in Sydney

Looking for a place to take your date in Sydney but you’re on a budget? Don’t let that stop you from having an amazing time out with the one you love! Here is my list of places and activities that will make any couple feel like they are on top of the world, without breaking the bank.

1) Tj’s Cafe (Woolloomooloo): Enjoy a three-course meal for $50 with matching wines! Such value can’t be found anywhere else. But it does come at a price: expect long line ups and noisy tables due to its small size. Also, many items on their menu change daily so don’t be surprised if there is something new when you return.

2) The Rocks (Circular Quay): Head to this beautiful part of Sydney for a walk along the harbour. You can take pictures by the Opera House, marvel at the Harbour Bridge and grab an ice cream from “Gelato Franco”. Once you’re done with that, head towards Cadman’s Cottage to see amazing views of the bridge.

3) Taronga Zoo (Mosman/Manly): This is one place I highly recommend whether you are single or taken. If your love takes you on a sunny day, be sure to check out their outdoor enclosures! Situated on an expansive cliff side property overlooking Sydney Harbour, it is also home to many native animals. Don’t forget to catch the daily PG-13 rated show at 11am!

4) Luna Park (Coney Island): This iconic amusement park is also located along Sydney Harbour. For $28, you can get both of you on all rides for an entire day; if that isn’t value, I don’t know what is. If it’s raining or too cold out however, there are games and fun food shops inside that will keep everyone busy until the sun comes back out!

5) Boomerang Dessert Bar (Central Station): Even if your love doesn’t have a sweet tooth, this restaurant is still worth trying simply because of its great decor and ambience. It is located in the main railway station so you can marvel at its architecture while indulging.

6) Pyrmont Bridge Lookout (Pyrmont): This is a great spot to take a picture with the Sydney Harbour Bridge as a backdrop! You will need to climb a couple of stairs but it is definitely worth it. Be sure to go on a sunny day though, as photos taken on cloudy days lack contrast and make for poorer viewing results.

7) Blue Mountains: In my opinion, this is one of the best places outside of Sydney proper as it offers something no other area does- fresh air! I recommend taking the train from Central Station all the way out there then catching an Uber back. It is a beautiful ride that will take about 2 hours. Once you’re there, hike up to Govetts Leap and watch the sun set over the mountains. There are many other attractions as well so be sure not to miss them!

8) Royal Botanical Gardens (Darlinghurst): This place is stunning both from its architecture and scenery. Make sure you catch an event being held here too such as their outdoor movies or concerts! It is open all year round so it doesn’t really matter what season it is- just go!

9) Bondi Beach: If your date loves a good tan, this iconic beach should top his list of places visit during your outing. Be sure to check out some of the little cafes on Campbell Parade or grab an ice cream cone from “Gelato Franco” on Hall Street!

10) China Town (Haymarket/Central Station): This place is great for both lunch and dinner. I highly recommend trying their fried noodles, dim sum or steamed buns with pork filling! It is also a good opportunity to get your loved one something cute from one of their many popup boutiques.
